Lou is a CPA, and President of The Jackson Group. Prior to starting the Jackson Group in 1985, she was a tax partner in a large international accounting firm. She is a member of the Georgia Society of CPAs (GSCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). She has been a member of the GSCPA's Ethics Committee. She was a member of the AICPA's Small Business Taxation Subcommittee.

Lou is a past president of the Atlanta Estate Planning Council. She is currently on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Warren, Gorman and Lamont publication Practical Tax Strategies. Previously, Lou was on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Warren, Gorman and Lamont publications Small Business Taxation and Tax Ideas.

Lou has been a seminar presenter for the GSCPA, ICLE, University of Georgia, and other professional and educational groups. She has spoken nationally at various tax conferences including the Georgia Tax Conference and most recently has been a speaker for Lorman Education Services on estate planning. She has written for national accounting magazines and has been interviewed for other national magazines. She is a contributing author of the book "Financial Planning for Divorce and Separation" and has considerable experience in business valuations and forensic accounting. Lou is a qualified witness in several jurisdictions in Georgia.

She works extensively in the area of estate planning and assists other CPAs with trust tax compliance.
